Meet Edinburgh College's Student Wellbeing Advisors

Edinburgh College’s Student Wellbeing team is on hand across all four of our campuses offering you advice and support for any of the issues you might face during your studies. From helping to organise clubs and activities, to offering one-to-one appointments, the team can make sure you’re getting the right help, and making the most of your time at the College.

Aurore Schloesslen is one of our Student Advisors, and she’s telling us just a little bit about the many services they can offer you.

Hi Aurore! Can you tell us a bit about what it is that you do at Edinburgh College?

“So the wellbeing service provides one-on-one appointments for students, a half-hour appointment, where you can talk about anything that you want to, that might be on your mind. We also put on lunchtime activities across the campuses, which are sports and arts and crafts, and help students get involved with the wider College community.”

Aurore & Anu are our two Student Wellbeing Advisors

What are some of the common reasons that might see a student coming to your team for a bit of support?

“Students come for a really big variety of reasons. It’s not always mental health related but if they want to come and talk about that they absolutely can. We have students come to us to talk about funding or housing issues, we talk about bereavement and loss, we talk about employment issues, really there’s no topic we aren’t happy to sit down and have a chat about!”

And it’s a service that can be accessed on any of our campuses?

“Absolutely! We’re on all the different campuses on different days, but there will always be someone from the team available.”

What about issues that the Wellbeing team can’t assist with directly, can you signpost to other organisations too?

“Definitely. We are not counsellors per se, but we have an abundance of resources that we can signpost students towards, if they need anything. Counselling, financial help, things like that. It’s a good starting point to come to us if you’re not 100% sure what sort of help you need.”

If a student does what to get in touch with the Wellbeing team what’s the best way to go about it?

“You’ll see some posters around campus with our QR code on them, or you can just send us an email directly at wellbeing@edinburghcollege.ac.uk, and we’ll get back to you as quickly as we can.”
