Introduction
Learning Development Tutors (LDTs) are the main point of contact for most students on full-time courses. We provide guidance and support throughout your time at college. We do this via weekly classes (tutorials) and individual meetings.
How can we help?
We provide you with our contact details at the start of the academic year so you can contact us when you need to. As well as a weekly class (tutorial), we also offer individual meetings twice a year to assess your progress and give you the opportunity to discuss any issues you might have. We are available for you to contact outwith these meetings as well.
We work closely with curriculum staff and other support staff within Student Experience in order to provide you with all the information and support you require.
LDTs monitor your attendance and engagement and will contact you if we have any concerns about these. We also deal with any disciplinary issues concerning our students.
The tutorial classes we provide each week over the academic year have a strong focus on helping you familiarise yourself with how the college operates, as well as your academic progression and career management.
We are here to help and guide you through your time here at Edinburgh College, so good luck and enjoy your time with us.
Where to find us?
You will know if you have a LDT by looking at your timetable- there will be a 1 hour slot on it which we refer to as a ‘tutorial’. Your timetable should have the name of your LDT on it.
You can contact your LDT directly by email (see section below) or via Teams once you have enrolled.
When you meet your LDT at the start of term, they will let you know all the details of how, when and where to contact them.
If you are having any problems contacting your LDT, you can get in touch with Dawn.Ross@edinburghcollege.ac.uk or Paul.Gilchrist2@edinburghcollege.ac.uk
