Position:                              Accounts Junior Apprentice

 

Accountability Edinburgh is a fast growing Xero accounting practice, based in Edinburgh offering accounting consultancy, training, payroll, management reporting, advisory and bookkeeping services.

 

We specialise in Xero advisory work, clean-ups and consultation on accounting automation.

Accountability Edinburgh won the 2025 UK Xero Awards as Best Bookkeeping Practice and Client Champion of the Year, and are the Accounting Excellence Awards as Best Bookkeeping Team of the Year.

We will support the candidate to complete the AAT pathway. In addition, we have a planned progression route which will take Accounts Juniors to the post of Accounts Senior, should they wish.

 

Person Specification

 

The successful candidate does not need to be qualified or experienced as training will be provided. However, candidates who are able to demonstrate an interest in the industry will be preferred. To be considered, candidates must be able to demonstrate:

3.    Enthusiasm to learn and motivation to commit to ongoing training

4.    An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and ethical behaviour

Responsibilities

 

Core: Purchase Ledger

1.    To receive and process purchase invoices

2.    To record purchase invoices received on appropriate purchase order systems

3.    To ensure purchase invoices are authorised appropriately

4.    To assist in the preparation and processing of payment runs, as may be required

5.    To send out remittance advice notes to suppliers

6.    To liaise with suppliers in the event of any query

7.    To check and maintain supplier statements

 

Core: Bank Tasks

1.    To receive and process credit card transactions

2.    To post bank payments and receipts, ensuring that transactions are appropriately documented

3.    To ensure bank reconciliations are carried out in a timely basis

4.    To post bank transfers appropriately.

 

 

Additional Accounting Tasks

1.    To prepare journal entries for posting to accounts software

2.    To assist with reconciliations of nominal accounts

3.    Management of client accounts inboxes – ensuring all communications are prompt and professional.

 

Administrative

 

1.    Accurate filing of accounting records

2.    Preparation and maintenance of process maps

3.    To assist the team with the smooth running of the practice, to include answering the telephone, dealing with queries and other administrative tasks, as required.

 

Purpose driven

1.    Participate in company fundraising and volunteering activities.

2.    Support Accountability Edinburgh’s carbon reduction activities

 

Remuneration

 

This post attracts a starting salary of £25,000 FTE per annum. In addition, following a 3 month probation period, we offer the following benefits:
