Volunteers wanted for Active Campus clubs and activities
The College is looking for volunteers to help run various Active Campus clubs and activities throughout the academic year.
The Active Campus programme helps students stay fit, healthy and engaged, and has been proven to help improve attention and academic performance.
Xsara Murray, the College’s Active Campus coordinator, is encouraging people to give it a go:
“As an Active Campus, we want you to get involved with college sport and activity. That could be as a participant, or volunteering, where you can gain valuable experience. Do you already coach a sport you could help us develop, or maybe you’re working towards a qualification in the fitness industry? Are you a media student looking to film and photograph live events? Being part of the Active Campus can really benefit your professional development.”

These are just some of the benefits of getting stuck in with our Active Campus:
- Meet new people
- Build your confidence
- Develop coaching skills
- Participate in media opportunities
- Become part of the wider college community
- CV building help
In previous years, offerings have included football, volleyball, yoga and badminton, and any help in assisting with the running of these clubs would be greatly appreciated.

Everyone at the College is invited to join in, and if interested, you can contact Xsara directly either via Teams or email, at Xsara.murray@edinburghcollege.ac.uk
Student Wellbeing Advisor, Anu Hawkins, who has volunteered with the programme previously, says it’s a worthwhile endeavour:
“Volunteering to run an Active Campus activity at the college was a great experience. Xsara was very supportive and helped to organise everything I needed to run the dance fitness classes. With Xsara's help, I felt very prepared and reassured and it was a really good opportunity to get more practice delivering in-person sessions to groups. I definitely gained confidence quickly thanks to the experience and would 100% recommend giving it a try!”
