Ramadan 2026 – Prayer room facilities
With the holy month of Ramadan right around the corner, Edinburgh College is committed to ensuring all our students observing the festival have access to the right facilities. This year, Ramadan is expected to begin on 18 February, and will end with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which is predicted to fall on either 20 March or 21 March, depending on local moon sighting.
While Ramadan is a time for fasting, it’s also a time for increased prayer and self-reflection, so we’re expanding our prayer facilities across all four of our campuses, to make it easy as possible to observe your faith during the College day.

During this time, it’s worth noting that:
- All prayer rooms will be designated as either female-only or male-only.
- Due to capacity, Room S0‑27 at Sighthill Campus will be used solely as a washing facility throughout Ramadan.
- Shower rooms are available on all campuses. Please ask at reception if you need some directions.
We’re kindly asking everyone to use these spaces with respect and consideration, please:
- Place shoes neatly outside the room.
- Leave the space tidy for the next person.
If you’re not observing Ramadan but wish to support those who are, please:
- Keep noise to a minimum to avoid disturbing those praying or reflecting.
- Do not eat in or near the designated prayer facilities.
If you require further support during Ramadan, please visit the Wellbeing Hub on MyEC.
